Tesla Sued by Perrone Robotics Over Autonomous Vehicle Patent Infringement
Tesla faces another legal challenge as Perrone Robotics files a lawsuit alleging patent violations in its self-driving technology. The complaint, lodged in Alexandria, Virginia, accuses the EV Maker of infringing on five robotics patents tied to autonomous vehicle systems. At stake is technology developed by Perrone founder Paul Perrone—a general-purpose robotics operating system (GPROS) that underpins Autopilot functionality.
The dispute centers on a rejected 2017 licensing offer for U.S. Patent 10,331,136, now at the heart of the infringement claims. Perrone seeks injunctive relief and unspecified damages, marking Tesla's second such lawsuit this year following similar allegations from Perceptive Automata regarding unlicensed AI models.
